CONVENTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

Coagulation/flocculation
Destabilization of colloidal dispersions inducing the formation of easily sedimentable aggregates is promoted by chemical agents.

Activated Sludge (conventional, SBR, MBR, MBBR)
Organics are converted to carbon dioxide and water by the aerobic action of microorganisms

INTERMEDIATE TECHNOLOGIES

Ultra filtration / Reverse Osmosis
Separation occurring in porous membranes (ultrafiltration: 20 to 50 Å; reverse osmosis: 1 to 20Å).

ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSES

Ozonolysis
Treatment of wastewaters using ozone at normal temperature and pressure. In some applications the use of a catalyst, homogeneous or heterogeneous, may significantly raise the efficiency.

Fenton process
In this process a strong oxidant mixture of iron salts, acting as catalyst, and hydrogen peroxide, the oxidizing agent, are used at normal temperature and pressure.

Wet oxidation
This treatment is used to degrade hazardous pollutants with air or oxygen at high temperatures and pressures. A catalyst is used when required (catalytic wet oxidation).

Photocatalysis
The degradation of pollutants proceeds under UV-vis irradiation in the presence of a suitable catalyst.

Other advanced processes are available in the Adventech portfolio (e.g., electro-oxidation, sonolysis).
